Uganda Service Update

Hello Families and Friends!

We've officially completed a week of ministry on this trip. Our time in Uganda is flying by!

On Wednesday we were picked up at the airport by the YFC team and trained at their facility which is a couple of hours away from the airport. Training gave us a good chance to get to know the YFC team and learn a bunch of the dances we would be doing in the schools. The YFC team was also kind enough to go back to the airport on Thursday and pick the bags that did not make it to Uganda originally. Thankfully, no one was without a bag for very long and all our donation materials made it to Uganda.

On Thursday and Friday we visited schools in the area. These visits are to schools with kids of all ages in the towns and villages in the surrounding areas. At these visits we dance, perform skits, and help the YFC team teach about the meaning of the skits. The dancing and skits have been particularly hilarious! The teaching time as seemed fruitful as there has been some response to the gospel and we've prayed over new believers and have helped connect them with YFC.

On Saturday we did a work project at the YFC campus, hosted a soccer tournament, and connected with some of the at risk pregnant moms that YFC connects with. In the last few years YFC has moved out of the city of Kampala into a larger piece of land in the country. With the space and extra buildings they will be able to expand their ministry. While the main office is built, there are several other areas of the property that still need to be finished. We helped clear areas around one of the buildings so that concrete can be laid in the future. We also helped to install windows in another building.

The soccer tournament was an outreach to teams in the area. While our team of YFC staff and Americans fought valiantly, we were ultimately defeated by the superior local team. The real highlight was getting to be a part of an outreach that saw 2 kids come to Christ and receive Bibles.

Along with the soccer tournament, some of the girls on our team met with at risk pregnant teenagers and offered them support. It was a good time to share with them and give them hope through a difficult time.

Today, we visited a church in Kampala, ate a tasty (American) lunch and toured the city. We will be back serving in schools on Monday and Tuesday and completing a service project on Wednesday.

Please pray for the energy to push through fatigue and that we would be faithful to serve where we are called.

Thanks for your prayers!

- Marc
